Ever start scrolling on social media and a crazy photo shows up and a headline saying something crazy like, "Elvis spotted as old man". Our human curiosity and boredom can make us click on these stories. These are called "Click Bait". It's a way to take you to a website with the crazy story and a lot of ads. The method is that the person who owns the website gets enough traffic that advertisers are willing to pay to be on their site. It's money for them and 5 minutes out of your life realizing the story is ridiculous. So why am I talking about "Click Bait", well used in the correct way it can be a great way to get people to your website. Instead of crazy stories, it's a new product that you have. The difference is how creative you can be with that ad, and not disappoint the reader. So for instance you have a new moustache comb, your ad can say, "moustaches through time" showing some crazy moustaches, it can take the onlooker to a blog page on your website where you in fact have a retrospective of moustache fashion and then sell your new moustache comb. Singling out your product makes it more special to the customer. Otherwise might as well just go to the dollar store and buy a plastic comb. Having the history makes it a tradition, and it's nice to have something special for that tradition.
Another way would be to have a great mysterious headline. This would play on human curiosity. If you had a hair salon you might have an ad that says 5 women dyed at this location, see how. The ad would take them to a gallery page of great hair dye jobs offered at the salon. Making an ad should be worth the money you are spending on it. Let me help you with creative online advertising. So you decided to write a book. It was either a hobby or something you wanted to do. Now what to do with your book? How about get it published!! Some hold back because they are not sure what to do. There are a couple of ways to go about it. There is always trying to go to an actual publisher but a lot of them need someone to represent you, like if you were an actor and needed an agent. If you want to go for the big time, then try and go for it. But if you just want something published and finished on your own, I can help. A lot of authors got their stardom just by self publishing. The first route would be to go through Amazon if you just want to publish online. With Amazon they offer services for layout and cover design for a fee. Please feel free to look into it. I can do this service for you. I can layout the book for both print and Kindle. Once uploaded Amazon will allow you to buy your book at author cost. I myself have published a few books and have learned some things along the way. Yes you can get author copies but if you live in Canada the copies will come from the States and get a bit pricy when you order a lot. The costs build with freight fees, boarder fees and exchange. So if you are going to self publish with Amazon, your goal will be for others to buy your books through them and maybe order a few author copies for yourself. It's very rewarding to have your book in your hand. BUT if you want 250-500 copies then your best bet is to go through a Canadian printer. Again I am at your service to offer layout and cover design which will be much cheaper then the printers doing it for you. I would still advise you to also put your book on Amazon as well as using the printers.
So if you want to finally print your book and to have something to be proud of, I am here to help you every step of the way. What's holding you back? When I say unique marketing, I'm talking about sale tactics that people use on social media and if they work. What most marketers want are traffic and views. The best way is to do that is to have people comment on their posts. You see when someone comments on their post, and if it's a public one, all of the commenter's Facebook friends can see it. So if you see a radio station asking you a question about what song you rocked out in high school and you comment "ACDC Thunder", then all your friends will see your comment and where it came from. Although sometimes the content of the question is shown and if they don't display their logo prominently on said question graphic, it's not as good as it would be if they did. It's an inexpensive organic way to get their name around. Just be careful of answering personal questions, like the year you were born, or your mother's maiden name, you see where I'm going here. Although sometimes done right it can really set off your Facebook Channel.
Another one I've seen is an ad or post of a pre-recorded video that says LIVE on it. As you scroll you will see it and the person is talking away and may ask if you have any questions. This could be used for psychics or motivational purposes. So the live video would ask, "Hi I'm giving a free reading, who here wants one? If you comment "me", but then there is no response right away because it's not actually a live feed. But now they have your comment and your profile so they can contact you later. I would kinda feel duped myself. It's unique but unsure the right message is getting across. To trick a potential customer is not the best effect. Unless the product or service is up your alley. Those are a few unique marketing tactics currently going on. Social media opened a whole new door to online advertising. It's finding what works for your business and what channels are right for you. Once we know what works it's time to think outside the box. When starting a business, the first thing you do is come up with the name and the second should be your logo. Your logo will be your brand. That brand that when people see it, they know what your business is about. Point in fact logos were branded into things a long time ago to note which maker made which product. Thus the name brand. As much as business owners would like to think they can do everything, there is an art to it. A logo should be simple yet represents what and or who you are. When a logo looks professional, so does your company. You may be the master auto mechanic, but I am the master maker of logos. We all have a purpose here in this crazy world. I can't fix my car and if I try, I don't think I'll be going anywhere. I might, but it may be iffy. Just like a logo designed in Word. Might be iffy.
Colour is also important. It could be personal, maybe it's colours you like, or maybe its the meaning of the colours. Some colours have strength or even compassion, depending on your business. A zen massage place might choose light greens and browns, where a neon colour may not be the right option for them, but great for a tattoo parlour. Or you choose the colour because of its meaning. Red meaning power, blue meaning loyalty. Google the meaning you'd like and the colour that represents it. The other thought is how you want to use your logo, so if you want it on a black background, a dark purple may not be the way to go. I also recommend not having more than 3 colours in a logo. Your logo is your brand. That means you want to put it out there and as much as possible. The more people see a brand name, the more trust they have in the product or service. We recognize images, and things we recognize make us feel comfortable. We put trust into things we see or do over and over. So shout your logo from the rooftops when you get your business gets going. Plaster it anywhere you can find. For this my friend is your calling card. Another service I like to do is a branding guide. If you are more than one sole owner and have a team, maybe even a large team you want everyone in your team and anyone outside your team who has access to your logo to use it correctly. Consistent branding is key. You don't want people crowding your logo or changing it or having people in your office with different email signatures. That's not professional. You want everyone on the same page. I create detail-specific branding guides to help you and your staff out. So in conclusion, logos are important, they should be simple, and represent what you do or what you offer. Let me know how I can help! |
